Firehouse Subs, New Orleans, LA Report #111

I’d never review a fast food chain like Burger King, Subway, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, etc…, BUT this place is special!  It just opened up on the Westbank of New Orleans (Algiers) and is the only one in the city, so technically it’s not a “chain” when it comes to the New Orleans city limits.

Maybe three years ago some fellow sailors on a Navy Reserve drill weekend talked me into going to a Firehouse Subs for lunch in Biloxi, MS.  I had never heard of the place before so I joined them, and I loved it!  I ended up going back several times.  I was glad to see this one open up here in New Orleans.

They have one of those soft drink machines that give you countless beverage options.  Dessert wise, I can’t get past the Lemon Cooler Cookie.  It’s the only one I ever tried.  It’s delicious!

We decided on the meatball sub on whole wheat and the New York Steamer, with corned beef brisket, pastrami, provolone cheese, deli mustard, mayo and Italian dressing on white.  Both sandwiches were delicious!  And unlike a place like Subway Sandwiches, where they put a tiny portion of premeasured, paper thin meats on their sandwiches, this place actually puts some meat on their sandwiches.

As far as I’m concerned, if you want a fast food option for a good sub, this is the place to go.

SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT:

Came in tonight and tried this BBQ Cuban Sub.

Outstanding! End of report.
