I came here for one thing and one thing only. The Lafitte Pig sandwich. I heard from a fellow foodie it was worth the trip. Sliced ham, pulled pork and bacon, topped with coleslaw and cheddar cheese. Sounded good to me.
Nice sized place. When I walked in I wasn’t sure if I should have a seat and wait for a waitress or what, but then I saw the big “Order Here” sign. You place your order at the bar, pay for it, and they give you a little light up pager thing. When it lights up, you head to the pick up window on the other side of the bar, drop the pager in the basket and grab your order.
The sandwich was pretty good. The bread was nice and fresh and there was a generous portion of the meats on it. The menu didn’t mention it but mine came with bbq sauce on it. The sauce was VERY sweet. Made it almost like a candied sandwich. If you don’t like a sweet bbq sauce you might want to ask them to give it to you on the side so you can taste it first.
I also got an order of fries. They were cut into thick crescent shapes. They were hot and nice and crisp, with a light seasoning, or maybe batter on them. They were ok, but I’m a french fry purist. Just give me plain, deep fried potatoes. I don’t need the fancy shapes or seasonings except for a little salt.
I’ll have to get back here one day and try their BBQ so I can report on that. Supplemental report to follow.

Ah, ok. I prefer shoestring or even crinkle cut.

Cottage fries are only great in Po-tachos smothered with cheese (they hold contents well).
