Normally Sunday breakfast for me consist of some kind of egg dish, grits and pancakes. Always pancakes. Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes. But today, I decided to do something crazy. Switch to waffles! You only live once.
This place has only been open for about three months but I’ve already heard good things about it. We decided on:
And the food:
When we ordered the food our waitress told us they make everything to order, so please be patient. When she said that I set my timer. In ten minutes the food arrived! Pretty good.
The shrimp and grits were very good. The grits were creamy but nice and firm, and the sauce the shrimp were in was well seasoned and flavorful. The waffle biscuits tasted just like biscuits with plenty of herbs in them. Very savory. I added two over easy eggs to it. This reminded me of one of my favorite breakfast dishes in the city. The Atchafalaya, at Tout de Suite Café in Algiers. That consists of crawfish etouffe’ over stone ground grits with eggs of your choice.
My dining partner had the Sampler, which she really enjoyed.
But the star of our meal was the specialty waffle we had for dessert. The Lemon Drop. I knew it was about to come out when I saw a guy behind the counter with a whole, fresh lemon in hand zesting it over our dish. It was delicious! Not only was it topped with a yummy lemon glaze, but the waffle itself had a lemon flavor to it.
Great place. I recommend it!
