Fury’s, Metairie, LA Report #245

Happy Halloween! For our Halloween dinner we decided on Fury’s.  Nothing scary about this place.  This family restaurant has been serving food in the New Orleans area since 1967.  The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent!

We decided on starting with the Eggplant Chips and Crabmeat Remoulade:

“Chips” had me thinking of really thin slices of eggplants, but they weren’t.  More like eggplant rounds.  Still very good.  Nice and crisp, with a delicious “red gravy”, which is basically a Marinara sauce.

The Crabmeat Remoulade was the size of a salad.  It’s hard to see with the dressing, but it was loaded with jumbo lump crabmeat!  So much that we were able to split it between the four of us at the table.  It was outstanding!

For our entrees we had meatballs and spaghetti, the fried fish with crawfish sauce, white beans and rice with a breaded pork chop, and a half fried chicken with a side of fries and pasta.

The rest of the food:

They start you out with some warm, crispy French bread and a dinner salad.  I had blue cheese dressing on my salad and it was fantastic.  Plenty of chunks of blue cheese.

All I can say about all the food is that everything was delicious! Our waiter mentioned they had speckled trout tonight, so I assume the fried fish covered with the crawfish cream sauce was trout.  That sauce was excellent.

The pork chop was tender and juicy, and the fried chicken, which they fry to order, was crispy, and seasoned perfectly.  Oh, when I ordered the 1/2 fried chicken, I assumed it’d be a leg, thigh, breast and wing.  The waiter told me that was fine if I wanted that, but we could get all white meat or all dark meat if we wanted.  A lot of places won’t give you that option.

The side of pasta comes with a simple butter/garlic sauce.  If you’re a garlic lover like me, you’ll love it.  It’s full of garlic.  So simple, yet so yummy.

This place is fantastic.  I can’t recommend it any higher.
