I love lamb. When this place popped up on my radar I did what I always do. Went online and looked at the menu. They have THREE different lamb sandwiches. One served on a Ciabatta bun with humus, a lamb po-boy, and a Thai one with sweet chili sauce and sour cream. THAT WAS ALL I HAD TO SEE!! I had to get there. And NOW!
Small place. No idea why they call it “The Milk Bar”. Maybe because they serve milkshakes? Well, I gave up sweets for Lent so I couldn’t try one. I would have loved to. And my dining partner is eating healthy for Lent, so she went with a salad. We ended up ordering:
And the food!
My dining partner had the Caesar Salad. Of course the most unhealthy thing about salads are normally the dressing, so she asked if it was made in house and what was in it. They said it was, and they made it with lemon juice, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, anchovies, olive oil,,,, and then she trailed off forgetting what else. Sounded healthy enough so she got the dressing, but on the side to control how much was on the salad.
She loved it! It was nice and fresh and the dressing was fantastic. In fact, she said she didn’t plan to use all three containers, but by the time she finished the salad she was scraping the bottom of each one to get every last drop out! They also give you a lollipop with each order. I’ll eat mine after Lent.
I decided on the Wolf Me Down. This was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Nicely toasted fresh Ciabatta bread, a good portion of thinly sliced, juicy, tender lamb, and no lack of melted mozzarella cheese! Utterly delicious!
I was sad to find out they don’t serve French fries. But they have numerous flavors of Zapp’s potato chips.
There are so many more sandwiches on the menu I want to try here. And the milkshakes of course. I’ll be back!!
