Coterie NOLA, New Orleans, LA Report #313

12

The Coolinary 2020 season has begun!  Summer is a slow time for restaurants. To combat that, at this time of year they start a celebration of restaurants referred to as Coolinary New Orleans.  Restaurants all over the region join in, and offer 2 course lunches for $20 or less, and three course brunches or dinners for $39 or less.  This year it runs from August 1st to September 13th.  You can get more information, including the participating restaurants and menus here —> https://www.neworleans.com/coolinary/

This is our first Coolinary meal.  The first menu here is the Coolinary menu, and the other two pics are the regular menu:

We decided on the there course Coolinary meal of the Cajun Eggrolls, Shrimp Pasta and Bread Pudding (of course!).  And The Firecracker Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee off the regular menu.

And the food!

Everything was VERY good!

The firecracker shrimp were fried nice and crisp and coated with a delicious garlic chili sauce.  If you don’t like spicy food, don’t be scared of these.  They were more sweet than spicy.  In fact, my dining partner said they were ALMOST as sweet as me!  Well, actually she didn’t say that, but it would have been nice if she did.

I love that they use Louisiana crawfish here.  The eggrolls were loaded with them.

They do not skimp on the seafood here.  The seafood pasta was loaded with shrimp.  And after a utterly disappointing, pathetic attempt at crawfish etouffee at a place called Mr. Ed’s last Friday night, this one was everything a crawfish etouffee should be!  Loaded with crawfish tails.

Pretty good bread pudding to finish off the meal.  A little denser than I like, but great flavor, good sauce, and most importantly, NO RAISINS!

Great place.  I recommend it!

    1. Yeah, that’s because I’m always in search of the perfect bread pudding. And here the only other option was a chocolate peanut butter pie. I don’t like peanut butter anything except a sandwich. No desserts, protein powders, nothing. Well, except Reese’s peanut butter cups. I like them. 😁
