I love this part of the city. It’s loaded with restaurants. The ones I’ve reported on around here are The Blue Crab, Landry’s Seafood House, Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar, Russel’s Marina Grill and Sala. This place is sandwiched right between the last two on that list. All of this is right on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, which is a great place to go sit out and relax with a great view.
I was looking for a place to eat tonight and saw the menu for this place on line. One thing caught my eye. The Surf & Turf Burger. 8oz patty topped with 1.5 ounces of jumbo lump crabmeat tossed in a remoulade sauce. That was all I needed to see! I had to have one.
So we decided on the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, onion rings, a Patty Melt, and that Surf & Turf Burger.
The spinach and artichoke dip was fantastic! Really creamy and cheesy, served with plenty of fresh chips. Actually, that may have been the best thing we had.
The onion rings were ok. Nice size slices of onion seasoned pretty good, but they could have been fried a lot crisper.
My dining partner enjoyed her patty melt sandwich and the fries.
Then, there was my burger. I had never seen a burger with crab meat on it on any menu, anywhere, in my life! At least not that I can remember. I had a concern though. With 8 ounces of burger and only 1.5 ounces of crab meat, would I be able to taste the crab at all?
Well, first off, it wasn’t jumbo lump crab meat. Maybe it USED to be, but it had been ground up pretty small by the time it topped my burger. Then my fear was realized. You couldn’t really taste the crab that much on the burger. The burger was good though. The bun was nice and fresh and the burger patty was juicy. And the baked potato that came with it, which I got loaded, was really good! Been awhile since I had a good baked potato.
I’ll be back, but next time I’ll try a different burger.
