This place is located in Old Gretna, also knows as the Historic District of Gretna. The city of Gretna is located on the Westbank of the Mississippi River. When I moved to the Westbank long ago, we discovered this place and came here a few times. It was pretty much a hole in the wall back then. As I remember it was more of a bar than a restaurant.
Today was my first time stepping back into here in years and I was pleasantly surprised. They renovated it and it is beautiful! You used to have to park on the street but now they have a parking lot. Nice little courtyard in front too if you’d prefer to dine outside.
We decided on the crabmeat, spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer. My dining partner ordered a shrimp poboy and gumbo combo, I got a roast beef poboy, and we ordered bread pudding to round out the meal.

I’m always glad when I can open up with saying everything was great!
If you don’t like crabmeat, don’t get the spinach and artichoke dip with crabmeat. If you do like crabmeat, like I do, you’ll love it. Even in the bites where I couldn’t see any crabmeat, I could taste it.
My dining partner loved her gumbo and shrimp poboy combo. I’m not a big potato salad fan, but apparently she was feeling benevolent and allowed me to taste it. VERY good! If I have to eat potato salad, this is the one I’d want to eat.
A hot roast beef poboy with brown gravy is about as New Orleans as you can get. I hadn’t had one in a while. This one was perfect! The roast beef was really tender and the gravy had a great flavor.
Last, but not least, was the bread pudding. Also perfect. No raisins, which is always a good thing, and they didn’t skimp on the delicious sauce.
Excellent lunch. We’ll be back!
