This place is on the main drag through Metairie, so I’ve passed it hundreds of times but never considered stopping in. Looks like a fast-food type of joint, located in a little strip mall and attached to a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop. And as we all know I have a taste for the finer things in life!
But I have a friend who lives not far from here who is filthy rich. She’s so rich, when the rest of us are boiling a sack of crawfish for a get together, she’s having her servants boil a couple sacks of lobster! Then donating the leftovers to Goodwill for the tax write off!
Anyway, she recommended this place, so I knew it had to be good. Also, their website says they use all homemade ingredients. So I figured we’d give them a try.
We decided on:
&&& THE FOOD &&&
Being a New Orleanian I was born and raised sucking down hot sauces. In fact, I grow my own peppers to make homemade hot sauce. Just bottled a chocolate habanero/garlic sauce a couple weeks ago. It’ll definitely get your attention!
On the tables they have a bottle of some kind of oil and hot sauce. The hot sauce has a fantastic flavor! I asked an employee what kind of sauce it was and what kind of chilis were used in it. He said he thought it was a Turkish hot sauce, but that was all he knew. He said there was a bottle of it in the back if I wanted him to go check, but I told him not to go through the trouble. If you like adding a little spice to your food, be sure to give it a try.
Believe it or not I had never tried kibby before in my life. I had to change that. I liked it! The wheat shell was fried very crisp, and it was packed with a well-seasoned ground beef.
My dining partner had the gyro plate. She said everything on it was delicious.
My kabob platter was fantastic. I like the way they throw some whole chickpeas on top of the hummus. All the meats were nice and moist, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the salad veggies were very fresh.
Really great dinner here tonight. Give this place a try!
