When I go to a restaurant I’ve never been to before I do a new restaurant report. When I go back to a restaurant I’ve already reported on, I don’t do a new report. I simply add on to the old one.
This is a unique situation. This restaurant used to be called Mama Thai. I went to it several times and loved it! It was owned by a woman from Thailand named Punnee Chauvin. She was a very smart, hardworking lady, who is credited for bringing Thai cuisine to New Orleans.
Sadly, she passed away in June of 2022. The restaurant closed and I didn’t know if it would open again.
Well, it has. Her family reopened and renamed it. Since the name changed, I’m doing a new report. A lot of the same dishes are on the menu, so if you want to read on my past experiences here, click here—> Mama Thai.
Place looks the same on the inside. We decided on the roti bread and fried ribs for appetizers. My dining partner got the spicy basil fried rice with chicken and shrimp, and I went with the daily special #1. Scallops, shrimp and crawfish in a basil sauce with fried eggplant on top.

+++++ THE FOOD +++++

Special #1
I could eat the roti bread all day. Flaky yet slightly chewy, and that red curry dipping sauce is wonderful!
The fried ribs were unbelievably tender, with a nicely seasoned crisp crust.
My dining partner loved the fried rice. She said it was a little spicy, had a great flavor, and was loaded with chicken and shrimp.
Speaking of loaded, anytime I have a dish with crawfish in it I always say they could have added more. Not in this case. This dish was LOADED with crawfish, shrimp and huge scallops! It was kind of spicy, and the sauce was delicious. I’m a pretty big eater but actually had to get a doggy bag. I couldn’t finish it!
Excellent place for Thai food. I highly reccomend it!

I’m not a big fan of Thai but it did look good.
