Russell’s Marina Grill, New Orleans, La. Report #59

Great place.  Located a couple blocks from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and across the street from a marina, the place is always packed.  Outside dining patio, nice size dining room and bar.  Speaking of the bar you know you’re in New Orleans when you see Big Al’s Bloody Mary featured prominently on the breakfast… Continue reading Russell’s Marina Grill, New Orleans, La. Southside Café, Slidell, La. Report #58

This place is in Slidell, Louisiana, which is about a 45 minute drive from my house in New Orleans depending on traffic.  It’s so good I’d gladly make the drive every week to eat there.  Not only have I never had a bad meal there, in maybe 5 visits I haven’t found one… Continue reading Southside Café, Slidell, La. Chris’s Donuts, New Orleans, La. Report #57

This isn’t really a restaurant but I felt a need to do a report on it.  I was born and raised in New Orleans and small, independently owned donut shops are common.  Everyone here had a favorite neighborhood bakery and/or donut shop growing up.  But I’ve been informed that in other parts of the country… Continue reading Chris’s Donuts, New Orleans, La. Times Grill, Mandeville, La. Report #56

This is one of my absolute favorite places for burgers although other menu items I’ve tried have been pretty good.  The place has that college game day type atmosphere, with a bar area that’s semi walled off in the dining room.  They even let you tailgate in the parking lot!  I’m sure they were happy. … Continue reading Times Grill, Mandeville, La. The Chimes, Covington, La. #55

I live in New Orleans, and sometimes when you see my reports you’ll see places like Metairie, Harvey, or Gretna, Louisiana.  All of those places are in the New Orleans metro area and at most a 10 minute drive from the New Orleans CBD.  This ones a little further.  Covington, Louisiana is on the north… Continue reading The Chimes, Covington, La. #55

Neyow’s Creole Café, New Orleans, La. #54

I heard very good things about this place.  A friend told me a friend of his came to New Orleans for the first time and he took him here to eat.  He said after eating here his friend wanted to move to New Orleans.  Hmmmm.  Pretty strong endorsement. Nice looking place.  Nice size main dining… Continue reading Neyow’s Creole Café, New Orleans, La. #54

The Olive Branch Cafe’, New Orleans, La. Report #53

Small place on the west bank of New Orleans with some really good food.  The marinara sauce served with the meatballs and angel hair pasta is light and delicious.  For $2.99 you can add what they call an 8″ garlic bread, but its more like a garlicky cheese pizza.  Very good. I’ve had the Pasta… Continue reading The Olive Branch Cafe’, New Orleans, La. Report #53
