Infinity Buffet, Biloxi, MS Report #712

This buffet is located inside of the Treasure Bay casino right on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. As we know, buffets are normally about quantity instead of quality. Unless I was really impressed for some reason I wasn’t going to bother reporting on this visit. I was impressed!

My dining partner knows I love crab and wanted me to have my fill of it for Father’s Day. That didn’t work out yesterday, but today we made it happen. We saw ads all over the place for their buffet so decided to stop in and give it a try.

I was assigned to the Navy Base in Gulfport, MS for five years as a Navy Reservist and have tried several casino buffets along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. My absolute favorite is the Palace Buffet. The entire casino is smoke free, the place is super clean and the food is great! But several years ago they removed crab from the buffet. If you want it they charge you more but then just give you, I think it was a 1.5 pound serving.

The way it works here is if you want crab, they tag you like cattle with an armband and you can eat all you want. I told them go ahead and slap an armband on me because I was ready to graze! MOO! My dining partner, who isn’t a crab fan, declined.

*** THE FOOD ***

Snow and Dungeness piled high!

I walked up to the buffet and grabbed a plate, then noticed the one lady in front of me with no plate, telling the server behind the counter what she wanted. She only asked for Snow crab and he LOADED her plate up! Then I asked for Snow and Dungeness and he did the same with me! Put POUNDS of crab on my plate! After I finished that I went back. Someone else was there and I just asked for Snow Crab. This server did the same thing. Gave me maybe seven crab sections! After that a rare occurrence happened. I couldn’t eat any more crab!

But what really impressed me was that the crab was cooked perfectly. What I mean by that is when you cracked the shell open all of the meat easily slid out. The last time I tried to gorge myself on crab was at a place called the Ombu Buffet back in the New Orleans area. The crab was so overcooked you couldn’t get it out of the shell. It was so frustrating to try to eat I gave up before I was even close to eating my fill. Here, I hurt myself.

As far as the other food on the buffet, between me and my dining partner we liked the red beans and rice, dirty rice, frog legs, spaghetti and meat sauce, hot rolls and seafood gumbo. The dessert selection was fantastic! Even though it was loaded with raisins, the bread pudding was good. The rum sauce was fantastic! They also have bananas foster sauce. I got a scoop of vanilla ice cream and poured a lot of that on top. Delicious!

There you have it. If you have a craving for crab, this is the place to go!

Thus endeth this road trip. I’m carrying my somewhat fatter self back to New Orleans! I’ll be in the gym tomorrow.
